rAAV-GfaABC1D-ChrimsonR-mCherry
This AAV expresses ChrimsonR-mCherry driven by a astrocyte-specific promoter. GfaABC1D is derived from the glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) gene. It is a shortened version of the GFAP promoter, approximately 1000 bps in length. Promoter source: PMID: 28712653. ChrimosonR is a new type of light-controlled ion channel that can respond to red light around 600nm. On the basis of Chrimson (CnChR1), the point mutation of K176R is made, which speeds up the speed of channel closing, so that at least it can effectively respond to optical signals of 20Hz and below. When used with Chronos, it is possible to control two different neurons with two kinds of fluorescence.

Functional Gene Details
ChrimsonR: A new type of light-controlled ion channel that can respond to red light around 600nm was discovered through high-throughput sequencing in the Boyden laboratory. A point mutation of K176R was made on the basis of Chrimson (CnChR1), which speeds up the channel closing speed, making it possible to effectively respond to light signals at least 20Hz and below. When used with Chronos, it is possible to control two different neurons with two fluorophores. The excitation light wavelength is 590nm.
